Why does marble have "color difference"?
Natural stone is rich in color, a lot changes, and delicate in texture, especially for natural marble stone. It is the charm of trillions of years' accumulation, and it is the original picture that nature has given us.In the past few decades, people with "obsessive-compulsive disorder" really didn't have much affection for color difference. Many people like a regular, single and simple design. When encountering the stone color difference, people are always eager to eliminate the color difference, or hope to choose a stone with less color difference. However, there is no two identical stones in the world. Because of this, the natural color difference will decorate the architectural space with more personality.
But to designers, the stone with color difference is actually a treasure. Color difference engineering is the highest art in nature. The bigger the color difference, the more precious it is. Make good use of the color difference, and the whole space will bloom with a different style. Many people think that the materials used are of poor quality. In fact, this is a misunderstanding of stone materials.
How is the color difference of natural stone formed? The reason why natural stone has "color difference"?
Reason 1: Surface mines and deep mines
Stone is mined from the quarry mine, from top to bottom, from outside to inside. Under the natural environment, the outer layer of stone is more exposed to water, air and sunlight. The stone hidden deep inside, there is no such environment. Therefore, there is a general difference in the color of surface and deep layers. After the deep layer is mined, the stone will also change in a new environment such as sunlight, air, and water, resulting in differences in color.
Reason 2: Uneven mineral content
The base substance of marble is calcium carbonate. In addition to the basic minerals, various elements and minerals are mixed together to form the ever-changing colors and textures of the stone.
Take the stone materials of South America as an example. The geological movement in South America is strong, and the underground is rich in copper ore, iron ore, and various metal minerals. Therefore, the stones produced in South America usually vary greatly in texture and are rich in color. For example,Granite from Brazil is almost with changing big veins.
The distribution of various minerals in nature is uneven, otherwise humans would not need to explore for minerals. This unevenness results in differences in the color of the stone.
Reason 3: The methods of mining and processing are different
The stone mined from the quarry is usually a whole block, and the block needs to be cut into pieces, which are called stone slabs.
In the processing of blocks, there are different cutting directions. This kind of processing difference cannot be completely avoided even if careful attention is paid during stone processing, and there will be more or less differences in the slabs.
Reason 4: The degree of surface processing is different
The color of the raw surface and the polsihed surface is different for the same stone.
In the smooth surface, polishing to 10 degrees, and polishing to 50 degrees, 70 degrees, 90 degrees, the difference is also very obvious. The brighter the grinding, the more obvious and bright the stone pattern and color; while the rough surface has a hazy beauty.
"Natural color difference" is a beauty from nature .Appreciating the color difference of natural stone with an artistic eye.
Natural marble is a non-industrial product. Its texture and color need to go through hundreds of millions of years of geological movement and absorb the essence of the sun and the moon. It can be described as a real "natural beauty".And the stones of different terrains, environments and layers will have subtle changes in color and texture, resulting in color difference, just like the Chinese, Shanghai, Heilongjiang, Ningxia, people in different places will still be different, but each has its own beauty.
